Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is come
All is quiet and still
The wrapping is all done
The frost above the window sill

Hectic as is traveling
Joyous I will sit
Listen to sibling ramblings
Ignore the rush I've quit

For tomorrow is a celebration
Of a gift of immeasurable worth
A jubilant emanicipation
An infant savior's birth

Though if only tonight I smile
I laugh and read in quiet peace
The gift will last a long, long while
And the celebration will never cease
